Energy Efficiency Solutions

Here at City Plumbing, we offer a full energy efficiency and renewables solution with complete product ranges and a dedicated design team.

About us

In 2010 we launched the Energy Efficiency team with the vision to make energy efficiency a staple part of any new build or retrofit project. We understand the needs of the construction industry providing impartial advice, specifications and design services. As experts in this field, we’re here to help find the best solution for every project. What’s more we have complete product ranges from air source heat pumps to heat interface units, supplying you with everything you need.

Air Source Heat Pumps (ASHPs)

ASHPs capture heat from the air using the refrigeration cycle. They then provide heat to properties through radiators, underfloor heating and hot water via suitably sized cylinders.

Ground Source Heat Pumps (GSHPs)

GSHPs are similar to ASHPs but use underground pipe arrays or boreholes to capture heat from the ground, before transferring it to the same elements of a property that ASHPs do.

Underfloor Heating

Underfloor heating can be particularly effective when combined with ASHP and GSHP systems. It can be used to replace radiators and is more environmentally friendly and cost-effective to run than traditional heating systems.

Biomass Boilers

Biomass systems burn wood pellets, wood chips and logs to provide warmth for heating systems and domestic hot water production. Biomass systems can also be used effectively in commercial buildings.

Solar Thermal

Solar thermal systems use solar panels/collectors fitted to the roof. These collect heat from the sun and use it to heat up water which is stored in a hot water cylinder

Solar PV & Battery Storage

Solar PV systems are similar to solar thermal in that they use solar panels fitted to the roof, however, PV converts solar radiation into electricity that can be stored in a battery storage unit

Renewable Heat Icentive

Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI)

The Domestic RHI is a financial incentive given by the government to promote the installation of renewable heat technologies. The four qualifying technologies are: air source heat pumps, ground source heat pumps, biomass boilers and solar thermal.

Green Homes Grant

The Green Homes Grant scheme, in which the government will pay up to two thirds of energy efficiency home improvements up to the value of £10,000, has now launched. Homeowners and landlords in England will be granted vouchers for home improvements measures, such as the installation of insulation and heat pumps.
