Boiler Upgrade Scheme Eligibility: Does Your Property Qualify?
The criteria for the new £9,000 off-grid grant are as follows. You must meet all requirements to be eligible for the scheme:
Own a domestic or small non-domestic property located in England or Wales. Note that Scotland has separate funding through
Home Energy Scotland.
Currently, heat your home with an oil, LPG, or direct electric heating system. The scheme excludes properties using mains gas.
Choose an eligible low-carbon heating system, such as an air-to-water or ground-source heat pump, for your upgrade.
Have a valid
Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) for your property, with no unresolved recommendations for loft or cavity wall insulation at the time of application.
Note: The government recently relaxed the EPC insulation rules. It's now easier for older rural properties to apply. New-build properties and social housing are still mostly excluded from the scheme.

How to Apply for the £9,000 BUS Grant via MCS Installers
The best part about the Boiler Upgrade Scheme is simple: you do'nt have to apply yourself. There are no complicated portals or lengthy forms and the entire process is managed directly by your installer:
Find an MCS-Certified Installer. Your engineer must be accredited by the
Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS) to access the grant.
Get a site assessment and quote. The installer will assess heat loss, design the right system, and give you a clear quote.
The installer applies for the BUS voucher on your behalf. The £9,000 is taken directly off your upfront invoice. You only pay the remaining balance.
