The Domestic Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI): An Overview for Installers

What is the Domestic RHI?

The Domestic RHI is a financial incentive given by the government to promote the installation of renewable heat technologies.
Households in England, Scotland and Wales who have qualifying technologies installed can receive cash payments for seven years for the amount of renewable heat the system is estimated to use, based upon their EPC of the installed technologies heat demand unit, whichever is lower.
To find the current tariff rates, visit the BEIS tariffs and payments page.

What products qualify for the RHI?

  • Biomass boilers
  • Air source heat pumps
  • Ground source heat pumps
  • Solar thermal
The eligible product make and model must be listed on the Product Eligibility List.

Am I eligible to install under the scheme?

In order to be eligible, your company must be MCS Certified. Your customer will need a copy of your certificate in order to apply.
