Solfex Panels

Solfex sells a range of solar panels with a prominent feature the SolFiT in-roof-solar system. This is an integrated solar panel system designed to sit within the roof structure, providing a sleek and aesthetic finish.
The key features of SolFiT panels include high power output, an integrated design, water tightness, durability, ease of installation, orientation, sustainability, and compliance with high fire safety standards.
SolFiT in-roof solar systems are excellent choices for UK homes and new build projects, thanks to their competitive pricing and cost-effectiveness, as well as their specific design elements.

Solfex Cylinders

Solfex cylinders are specifically designed to optimise the performance of air and ground source heat pumps for domestic hot water (DHW) production. As specialised hot water storage solutions, these cylinders are crucial for efficient heat pump systems.
Designed to effectively transfer heat from the lower temperatures generated by heat pumps to provide ample hot water, Solfex cylinders are available in various capacities, ranging from 120 litres to 300 litres, to suit different household sizes and hot water demands.
Solfex cylinders are typically supplied with a comprehensive unvented kit. This means many of the common accessories for unvented cylinders are already included, simplifying installation and ensuring compliance with Building Regulations Part G. Unvented components here include an inlet control group (pressure reducing valve, expansion relief), an expansion vessel, a tundish, a dual probe thermostat, a 28mm 2-port zone valve, and a 3kW immersion heater.

Solfex: FAQs

Where Can I Buy Solfex Products?
Solfex products, including their SolFiT solar panels and heat pump cylinders, are primarily available through City Plumbing branches and our online platform.
What Is the Main Advantage of SolFiT In-Roof Solar Panels?
The primary advantage is their seamless aesthetic integration. They replace roof tiles or slates, sitting flush with the roofline for a sleek, modern appearance, avoiding the "on-top" look of traditional solar panels.
Are SolFiT Panels Suitable for New Builds or Existing Homes?
SolFiT is ideal for new build projects or homes undergoing a re-roof, as the panels directly replace traditional roofing materials. They can also be retrofitted by stripping down a section of an existing roof.
Do In-Roof Panels Perform as Well as On-Roof Panels?
While very slight differences in performance might occur due to less airflow beneath in-roof panels (potentially leading to slightly higher operating temperatures) SolFiT's design aims to mitigate this. For many, the aesthetic and safety benefits outweigh any marginal efficiency difference.
Why Do I Need a Special Cylinder for a Heat Pump?
Heat pumps operate at lower flow temperatures than traditional boilers. Solfex heat pump cylinders are specifically designed with larger, high-surface-area coils (heat exchangers) to efficiently transfer heat from these lower temperatures, ensuring adequate and rapid hot water production.
What Types of Solfex Cylinders Are Available?
City Plumbing stocks Solfex unvented hot water cylinders, including standard and slimline versions, and twin coil options for integration with solar thermal systems.
What Sizes Do Solfex Heat Pump Cylinders Come In?
They are available in various capacities, commonly ranging from 120 litres to 300 litres, to suit different household sizes and hot water demands.
Are Solfex Cylinders Durable?
Yes, they are typically made from high-grade Duplex Stainless Steel, known for its excellent corrosion resistance and longevity. They come with a substantial 25-year manufacturer's warranty on the inner tank.
Are Solfex Cylinders Compatible with All Heat Pump Brands?
Yes, they are designed for universal compatibility with various air and ground source heat pump manufacturers.
Can City Plumbing Provide Technical Support for Solfex Products?
As the distributor and having integrated the Solfex team, City Plumbing's Energy Efficiency experts can provide technical advice, support, and guidance on the installation and operation of Solfex branded and distributed products.
