Grant Heat Pumps FAQs

How Loud Are Heat Pumps?
Modern heat pumps are significantly less noisy than older models and often quieter than many common household appliances. Installers can advise on specific model noise levels, optimal placement, and potential noise mitigation strategies, with  ‘Quiet Mark’ certifications further helping identify models designed for low noise.
What is a Grant heat pump?
Grant heat pumps are "air-to-water" heat pumps. This means they extract heat from the outside air and transfer it into your home's wet central heating system (radiators or underfloor heating) and also to your domestic hot water cylinder. They are a renewable and highly efficient alternative to traditional fossil fuel boilers.
What types of Grant heat pumps are available?
Grant primarily offers their Aerona³ R32 and newer Aerona R290 air source heat pump ranges. These are monobloc units (meaning all the main components are in the outdoor unit) and come in various outputs (kW) to suit different property sizes. The R290 models use a natural refrigerant with a very low Global Warming Potential (GWP).
How efficient are Grant heat pumps?
Grant heat pumps are highly efficient, often achieving an A+++ ErP for central heating, which is the highest possible. They boast high Seasonal Coefficient of Performance (SCOP) values, meaning they can produce multiple units of heat for every unit of electricity consumed (e.g., SCOP of 4.34 at 35°C flow temperature).
Are Grant heat pumps noisy?
Grant heat pumps are designed for quiet operation. Many models, particularly within the Aerona³ R32 and Aerona R290 ranges, have achieved ‘Quiet Mark’ accreditation. While the fan does make a slight noise, it's generally comparable to a modern washing machine and significantly quieter than a vacuum cleaner or lawnmower. Noise levels are measured at 1m from the unit and generally sit well below conversational noise levels.
What is the "G1 Installer" scheme?
The G1 Installer scheme is Grant's network of approved and trained heating engineers. Choosing a G1 installer ensures that your heat pump is installed correctly, allows you to benefit from extended warranties, and provides access to Grant's technical support.
What is the warranty period on a Grant heat pump?
The standard warranty is typically 12 months from the date of installation. However, this can be extended up to 7 years when the heat pump is installed by a Grant-approved "G1 Installer" and registered with Grant Engineering within 30 days of installation, subject to annual servicing.
